Usability.Gov is one of the good resources for design and usability of websites. A large chunk of my work deals with the Government especially in the legal industry and I do understand that they have hard time making their websites and web applications usable due to so many unrelated factors like politics and bureaucracy. However, people working in governmental departments do take recommendations by (other) governmental bodies seriously. That is why when I introduced the Research-Based Web Design & Usability Guidelines to one of my clients, he got thrilled as it was good ammo to counter his boss’ ideas on web design and usability. However, I thought I should share it online as it could be useful for visitors who stumble upon this blog as well as for me when I need it later. I can never find things when I need it later but I digress…
Now on to research. I’m guilty of depending too much on Google for research. Not that it is a bad tool but there is research beyond Google. Read the article, especially if you are a search nut like me as it has a good list of invisible yet authorative and comprehensive research resources.
