I have been meaning to blog about the TED talks but somehow I never get around to putting ‘fingers on keyboard’. I’m a glutton for learning and in fact, I strongly believe it is one of my strengths. A belief supported by the wonderful book “Discover Your Strengths” but I digress.

Back to TED.

What is TED?
TED stands for Technology Entertainment Design and it is a yearly exclusive conference that brings the leading thinkers, movers and shakers from these three industries. Now they are releasing two videos every week (just because BMW is sponsoring the release of these videos, I must buy a car from them soon) and I have been watching religiously. I have been learning and soaking up the ideas plus getting to know who are the real movers and shakers. Damn, in fact, I want to attend or better yet, speak in one of the TED conferences. Ooops this entry isn’t about me, so back to TED again.

All videos are mind-blowing and mind-expanding (doesn’t blowing up really expand things?) but for starters below are three videoa that I really loved. I’ll blog about the other talks in the future with little commentaries of my own. Enjoy (oh and I hope your browser’s flash enabled).

Hans Rosling: Ignore his accent and focus at the amazing things he does with publicly available data.

Ken Robinson: I loved his ideas on learning and teaching. He shows us the inadequacy of today’s system of learning and teaching and how to improve.

Al Gore: He always came across as stiff and I never really forgave him for ‘inventing the Internet’ but in this video he comes across as humane and passionate about the environment. I watched “An Inconvenient Truth” and I strongly recommend everyone to watch the movie with an open mind. If even half of what he says comes true then we are headed for devastation.
