If you want your website or blog to be visible on search engines, do not use mass submitters. Instead just submit to the top 3 search engines. In my experience, they drive more than 90% of the traffic so why spend lots of time chasing after the remaining 10%. However, do submit to search engines that serve your niche (if any).
- Google: http://www.google.com/addurl/
- Yahoo: http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html. For Yahoo! you need to register or log in using your Yahoo! account.
- MSN (now known as Live Search): http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSDD
If it is a blog, then do not forget Technorati.
Merely submitting does not guarantee a listing, the website/blog needs to be optimized but that’s a whole topic by itself. I’ll write a quick guide to optimization soon, promise. And yes, I know that my blog is not optimized for search engines but that’s a conscious choice to conserve energy as I do enough optimization work for clients.
PS: If any of the above links don’t work for some reason, contact me.

Dipankar, thanx for the tip. And I am looking forward to the other info also. You are helping to shorten my learning curve. Thanks much, Cheers. Kaed.
Excellent Blog Subba! Someone has added you to http://www.harro.com btw.
Cheers.
Kaed > You are welcome. I’ll write the optimization post shortly and let me know if I can help. BTW, where’s your blog? Best hidden secret on the Net? Was asking Fern and she wasn’t sure!
Harro > Thanks for the kind words. I briefly checked out your site, looks good but I didn’t understand whether it was supposed to be a directory of blogs or a local Digg/Reddit.
