If you want your website or blog to be visible on search engines, do not use mass submitters. Instead just submit to the top 3 search engines. In my experience, they drive more than 90% of the traffic so why spend lots of time chasing after the remaining 10%. However, do submit to search engines that serve your niche (if any).

  1. Google: http://www.google.com/addurl/
  2. Yahoo: http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html. For Yahoo! you need to register or log in using your Yahoo! account.
  3. MSN (now known as Live Search): http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSDD

If it is a blog, then do not forget Technorati.

Merely submitting does not guarantee a listing, the website/blog needs to be optimized but that’s a whole topic by itself. I’ll write a quick guide to optimization soon, promise. And yes, I know that my blog is not optimized for search engines but that’s a conscious choice to conserve energy as I do enough optimization work for clients.

PS: If any of the above links don’t work for some reason, contact me.
