I have been going through Anthony Robbins’ Personal Power 2 and I just completed a review of Week 1. It is stated that this is the world’s best-selling Personal Development program of all time and I found it pretty good. Here’s a brief summary of Week 1 followed by a flowchart where I have attempted to capture the concepts in a logical manner.

Day 1 - The Key To Personal Power

Personal Power is the ability to take ACTION and produce RESULTS. There’s a formula for success and Robbins’ calls it the Ultimate Success Formula which consists of:

  1. Determining the Outcome.
  2. Taking Action to move towards that outcome.
  3. Noticing the Results of the actions taken.
  4. Changing Approach if the results are not as desired.

This process can be accelerated through Role-Modeling.

Day 2 - The Controlling Force That Directs Your Life

The need to avoid pain and the need to gain pleasure are the forces that is directing everyone’s life. The need to avoid pain is a greater motivator than the need to gain pleasure.

Day 3 - Taking Control: The First Step

Neuro associations or the meanings associated to a particular situation determines behavior. Every single thought or action determines life’s destiny.

  1. Every thought or action is a “cause set in motion” - CAUSE.
  2. All thoughts and actions have an EFFECT.
  3. These effects accumulate to take life into a particular DIRECTION.
  4. Every direction has a DESTINY.

Day 4 - The Science of Neuro Associative Conditioning (NAC)

Everyone either wants to change their feelings (emotions) or their behaviors. Change can come through repetitive conditioning:

  1. Get LEVERAGE by getting to a point that something must change, I must change it and I can change it. Change would be immensely pleasurable and not changing would be massively painful.
  2. INTERRUPT the present limiting association by doing something unexpected.
  3. CONDITION now to have a new association and link lots of pleasure.

Day 5 - What Everyone Wants And How I Can Get It

Managing the state of emotions is vital because daily performance depends on it. The first key of managing states is using the body by changing the body posture, facial expressions, voice and breathing patterns. For example, it is impossible to feel sad or depressed when someone has a huge grin on their face, is breathing deeply and has an upright posture. In contrast, a sad depressed person would have a slumped posture with shallow breathing.
