Bootstrapper's Bible

ChangeThis is giving away Bootstrapper’s Bible by Seth Godin for free (the offer is for a limited period of two weeks, go grab it while you can).

I have read this book and sadly didn’t use much of the ideas which are mostly practical and sound. This led me to ponder, whether Singaporeans and PRs (I’m a PR) are too comfortable and the very thought of entrepreneurship takes us out of our comfort zones? The Government on its part has been promoting entrepreneurism but I don’t see any major signs of people jumping into the fray to become entrepreneurs though we have quite a number of well-known faces that get recycled as role-models a lot.

I know that I’m guilty as charged. I took the very early classes of Technopreneurship at NUS (slightly before the dot-com crash) and joined (and still work for) a small enterprising company that did some cool major things like launching the world’s first virtual Court but I have never been bold enough to venture out on my own.

Why?

  1. Is it because we are risk-averse? Sometimes by not taking a risk we may be taking the greatest risk.
  2. Are we afraid to lose face?
  3. Are we just too comfortable and entrepreneurship is not an option?

Some of your thoughts in the comments would be appreciated but do download the free copy of Bootstrapper’s Bible by Seth Godin before the limited offer expires.
